Jeff Ng, more widely known as Jeff Staple, is the founder of Staple Design and Reed Space in New York City. As a brand, Staple is one of the most highly regarded in the urban streetwear industry. Below is a recent four part interview with Jeff Staple in which he discusses his influences, the origins of Staple, and hip hop.
"At the core, Outlier clothing is about a certain freedom. A freedom to ride, regardless of the destination. You should always look like you belong inside the city, not just out on the road pedaling. A freedom to ride, at any speed you want to. Sometimes you ride slow sometimes you ride quick, but no matter how you ride, you should always look and feel fresh and clean. A freedom to ride, no matter the weather. A cyclist is exposed to the elements in a way that few other city dwellers are, and your clothing should be ready to handle whatever the sky and streets kick at it. Our garments are designed to make getting to that freedom just a little bit easier." - Excerpt from Our Philosphy, Outlier Tailored Performance
I've been seeing the bow tie around a lot more lately and I couldn't be happier to see it's return. With stars like Tim Lincecum and Dwayne Wade now sporting the classic neck accessory (see what I did there?), it's only a matter of time before the everyday guy decides he'd like to wear one as well. Bow ties are fun, distinctive, and distinguished all at the same time. A guy who wears a bow tie is most certainly confident in his style. But if you decide to wear one, please DO NOT wear a clip on. Clip ons are too perfect and can be spotted a mile away. Take the time to actually learn how to tie one. It's actually a lot simpler than you think. I've included a little instructional video below brought to you by Details.com to get you started. It might help to practice on your leg so you can see better.
